Interesting Read on Tionne @BozBizz Watkins

“I only have one vocal chord,” says T-Boz, formerly of the super group TLC. Technically, she’s right. Only one of her vocal folds functions properly because of a cyst on the other. But she declines having it surgically removed because she avoids invasive procedures at all costs and feels the compromised sound suits her low vocal register. One surgery she couldn’t refuse was the removal a large brain tumor last year. At an event at Atlantic Station’s bowling bar Ten Pin Alley sponsored by Atlanta’s Traxx Girls, T-Boz points to the scar at the lower right side of her head under her ear. It has left that side of
her face partially paralyzed, which also interferes with her singing. But she takes it and some other recent health problems in stride because she’s booked so solidly with public appearances, she hasn’t had time to schedule a requested segment with Sanjay Gupta, the medical guru correspondent for CNN! Yet somehow amidst all of T- Boz’s survival acrobatics, the Traxx Girls ranked and she met, greeted, and bowled with adoring fans (her bowling shoes are a petite size 6). Gupta may be able to turn down the president, but he’d better hop to it if he wants to get T-Boz before his cameras anytime soon.
