Possibly good news about SOPA/PIPA

They may still be alive, but they're MUCH weaker now!
To recap - yesterday, a bunch of websites went dark for the day in protest of the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA).
As the day went on, we were pleased to hear that several senators backed down as supporters of PIPA! We were also happy to hear that more House reps decided to stop supporting SOPA!
Now, we've learned some of the IMPRESSIVE results of yesterday's anti-Internet censorship blackout! Here are some highlights, and it definitely sounds like we're headed very strongly in the right direction!

A True Story Of Courage, and Strength

Nasheyah of Buffalo, NY

Domestic Violence is something I will never tolerate, and a friend of mine on Facebook has been a true inspiration for many. She herself was abused for 18 years, feeling like a prisoner in her own home, and scared to let the truth be known, she hid the abuse from everyone, not ever calling 911 in fear something else might happen, something much worse.  She has 5 beautiful children, who have been her strength through these extremely tough and emotional 18 years. She has since broke her silence after almost 2 decades of abuse, and is finally speaking out on Domestic Violence. You can watch a very emotional video after the jump. If you, or someone you know is in a similar situation, please reach out for help. Don't be scared of what might happen. You may not get a chance to tell your story like this beautiful woman has.

@BozBizz says use your voice to give someone #HOPE

It came at no surprise to me that Tionne T-Boz Watkins of the biggest selling R&B group of all time TLC brought to our attention the overwhelming need for Bone Marrow donations. The process has come a long way, and it could easily save a life. One week, One Life, gives hope for a lifetime.

If you're interested in learning how to help, check out the website and do your part! I have a strong feeling I'm going to sign up. The thought I could honestly help a child, or adult in need is such an
amazing feeling.

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins rose to fame as an actress, singer and member of the popular 90s musical group TLC – all while quietly battling sickle cell disease. Now, she is lending her famous voice to encourage people, especially those in the African American community, to join the Be The Match Registry® as potential bone marrow donors and help others – like 11-year-old Imani Cornelius – fight similar life-threatening diseases.

New PSAs airing in July

Watkins has partnered with Be The Match® on two public service announcements. The PSAs will hit the airwaves and the Internet in July, which is African American Bone Marrow Awareness Month. Donor registry drives will also take place nationwide throughout the month.

Dispeling myths about bone marrow donation

“As a person with sickle cell disease and an advocate for everyone fighting this disease, I was naturally drawn to Be The Match,” Watkins said. “Unfortunately, myths about bone marrow donation keep many people from joining the Be The Match Registry and potentially saving a life. That is why I am passionate about encouraging everyone to learn the facts about bone marrow donation through these PSAs. We need more African Americans to step up.”
A bone marrow transplant can be a cure for someone with sickle cell disease or other illnesses like leukemia and lymphoma. Most patients who need transplants do not have a match in their family and depend on the Be The Match Registry to find a match.

African Americans have a harder time finding a match

But many African Americans and other minorities can’t find marrow donors – like Imani Cornelius, of Minneapolis. Imani was recently diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and her only hope for a cure is a bone marrow transplant. Her doctors continue to search the Be The Match Registry for a matching donor, but that search has not been easy as Imani is biracial.
Right now, the chance of finding a match on the Be The Match Registry is close to 93 percent for Caucasians, but for African Americans and other minorities, the chances can be as low as 66 percent.
The tissue types used for matching patients with donors are inherited, so patients are most likely to find a match within their own racial or ethnic heritage. There are 9 million people on the Be The Match Registry, but only 7 percent are African American.

Donor Jonathan Nazeer says "donating is life-changing"

Jonathan Nazeer, of Greensboro, N.C., saw firsthand the need for more African American donors when his friend was searching for a match. Jonathan joined the registry in 2006 on her behalf. Just a few years later he was called to donate to a 52-year-old woman battling a rare disease.
“Donating is life-changing, not only for the individual who is receiving the transplant, but even for you. To know that you may have played a small part in actually saving someone’s life is extremely fulfilling,” said Nazeer, who was recently contacted again as a match for an 18-year-old boy.
While the number of transplants that the NMDP facilitates for African American patients has doubled since 2004, more people of African American descent are urgently needed on the Be The Match Registry so that more lives can be saved.
“We have made great strides in expanding the number of patients and the range of diseases that can be treated with bone marrow transplants,” said Jeffrey W. Chell, M.D., chief executive officer of the National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP), which operates the Be The Match Registry. “But we need more volunteers – from every ethnic and racial background – to meet the ultimate challenge of helping every patient find a life-saving donor.”

#TLCFANPARTY : a bit more information *UPDATED*

As you all know, I'm putting together what may be the biggest TLC FAN PARTY ever! The event details that have been locked so far is the fact that it will be in Atlanta sometime this summer. I'm trying to go more for mid July, early August. I'm currently looking for a place big enough to host all us fans. I'm also trying to wait on selecting a date until I speak with the girls, as well as the Lopes family. Once everything is completed on the planning part, I will let everyone know how you can purchase your tickets to the event. Airfare and hotel accommodations will be separate, but thats why I want to get you the date as soon as possible so you can book your tickets and hotel at a cheaper rate. I've compiled many ideas from the fans to help make this YOUR event as well. I've received well over 200 emails saying how much this party means to them, from people all over the world. With that being said, I'm so excited to get this project together! You can still email NhP2MediaINC@Gmail.com if you'd like to be included in the event planning process. Any extra money from this event will be going to the Lisa Lopes Foundation, as well as the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia.

**UPDATE**
I'm currently trying to work with V103 in Atlanta and the Lisa Lopes Foundation to help sponsor the event. As for the location, I'm looking at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, it holds 1,500 people and to rent the hall out for one night would be around $3,500 - I'll be paying this fee out my my own pocket, so I will more than likely take any donations to help with any extra cost(s) the event may require. I'm thinking the best way to allow the VIP fans guaranteed admission, we will do a pre-sale for the tickets. I'm thinking of doing 2 different packages. One would be the VIP package, which would include dinner, drinks, transportation to and from hotel/airport etc for around $150-$250 - This will also include any other events and transportation needed for the event. The second package would be general admission, which is your ticket into the event. Any other cost(s) will be covered by yourself. $30-$50. It will be 2 days (a Saturday and Sunday) however I'll more than likely be there 4 or 5 days to complete everything that needs to be completed. The first day will be a get together with the fans, We can go see DARP Studios, Visit Lisa's Grave, see other monumental TLC locations. Once more information is available I will send you an email!

Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins Presents...

Each and every year T-Boz from the Grammy Award Winning group, TLC visits sick children in the hospital over the Christmas season, and this year is no different. She is teaming up with the Toys For Tot's toy drive to help bring gifts to the kids who wont get a chance to spend the holidays at home with their family. She visits children in the local Atlanta, Georgia area, but that doesn't mean you can't still help out! Many local organizations participate in the Toy's For Tots program. You can check out their website to see how you can help out!

With your donations, toys will be purchased for children who are hospitalized and not able to spend Christmas at home with loved ones.  Every year we try to make a difference in these young lives.  THANK YOU FOR OPENING YOUR HEARTS AND SHARING WITH THOSE WHO NEED IT THE MOST!
